Journey To The Philippines
I don't care what you say. Deny it through and through. EVERYONE is a Journey fan. Sadly, like all 80's bands, Journey had some issues and the fabulously coifed Steve Perry went solo and took his glorious voice with him. Now Journey is back....with a new singer....that they found on Youtube...in the Philippines. Okay, now you all officially have my permission to hate Journey 2.0 because by the looks of it, I will. The whole thing is just off. At least they could have parlayed their need for a new lead singer into a season of Rockstar hosted by Douchey McDoucherson Dave Navarro and I've-had-18-kids-and-don't look-like-a Duggar Brooke Burke. I really think getting on Youtube to find a new lead singer when you are one of the most difinitive bands of a generation really says something about the state of the music industry these days. I will, however, stay loyal to Steve Perry. His hair is just too magnificent not to.

But it's crazy - the new guy sounds JUST like Steve Perry. I can't believe how much the sound the same.
i know, which i think is why i am all the more pissed about it!! it has basically turned journey into a karaoke back up band!
Haha - I agree!
i am a die-hard journey fan, but more so, a steve perry fanatic. especially after i watched vh1's behind the music on journey and found out what those jerks did to him. from wikipedia: "Journey reunited with Journey's classic 1981-85 lineup in 1996 to record Trial by Fire. The album was a success, entering the Billboard charts at #3 and going platinum before year's end, but its triumph was short-lived. Before the Trial By Fire tour could begin, Perry suffered a hip injury while hiking in Hawaii and was unable to perform. Perry was diagnosed with a degenerative bone condition and a hip replacement would be required. Reluctant to rush into surgery, Perry wished to postpone the tour.
The rest of the band waited until 1998, just over two years after Perry was injured. Growing impatient and realizing the window of opportunity was closing to follow up Trial By Fire with a world tour, they issued an ultimatum to Perry that either he undergo a hip replacement soon so the tour could proceed upon his recovery or a replacement singer would be hired.[1] Perry, still hesitant to undergo surgery and now apparently angry at his bandmates' intractability made the decision to part with Journey permanently."
poor steve was injured and all those other dudes could think about was how their window of opportunity was closing. wah! this new fake journey will never win a place in my heart.
enjoy this awesome (fake) steve perry picture: http://i.somethingawful.com/news/2004/12/16-perry5.gif
I agree, this is just off.
I'd have more respect if they hadn't focused solely on finding someone (going thru 3 singers) to copy Perry as closely as possible.
Glorified karaoke, at best.
