Presidential Candy

Last night on Brian William's piece on the Obama White House I learned that the offical candy of the presidency is M&M's. Each president gets to have his own unique designed box with his signature. Obama's haven't come in yet - so his team uses standard issue boxes in the mean time. Bowls of M&M's are all over the White House and it isn't uncommon for the Pres to walk into a meeting chomping on a mouthful. Also stashed all over the White House? Bowls of apples - to promote healthy eating. Or at least to counter act all those M&M's.

I kinda want a bag of peanut M&M's right now.

I had no idea about this! It's like because M&Ms passed up the chance to be in E.T. they were going to make up for it some other way..... and boy did they. What's fancier than being the Presidential candy of choice?!

Wow! Who knew that the White House isn't as stuffy as people might think it is!

Any idea why M&M's specifically? I mean, why not another type of snack?

When I need a 3pm vending machine fix, I go straight for the peanut M&Ms. This makes me wonder what I'd pick if I were prez.

I think maybe a 100 Grand bar. Just for the sheer controversy of it. It would make a fantastic ad, wouldn't it? President Bee chomping on a 100 Grand bar during a recession. Now, that's gangsta!

I guess the president has other things to go than go to the shops...

I'd much rather have a twix though.

Back when Bush was president, my dad waited on him at his restaurant. Along with a souvenir photograph with W and Laura, my dad also got a few boxes of those presidential peanuts! I still have the boxes somewhere!
