One of my favorite things about my new closet is my built in shoe shelves. I've never had shoe storage before that didn't involve some college type solution from The Container Store. If I had been a little more savvy in my earlier years perhaps I could have found a junky old armoire and jazzed it up like this one to store my shoes. Don't you just love the idea? Framed in black they look like little works of art!

My last apartment had an entire wall of shallow shelving in the walk-in closet that my husband and I used for our shoes. Now we have a walk-in closet but no shoe shelves in our house, so I have to use something form the Container Store. I miss how neatly organized they looked in the built-in shelving.

Whenever I decide I need storage, my impatience takes over and I run to Target and pick up something college-y that is ugly and cheap but it's there so it fills my immediate need. Then every day after I just stare at it with disdain. Moral of the story? I need to be patient and keep an eye out for beauties like this one. Pretty!
i come across pieces like this every week at the flea market...if only i had the space i would swipe one up and replicate this exactly!

My shoes are held captive in my dark and boring closet. So sad...

Love that! I want a nice pretty cupboard for my shoes . . . most of them are on the floor and the good ones are in boxes stacked upon each other.

I had my carpenter add shoe shelves to one of my closets because the shoe situation was getting ridiculous! I had to give up my "winter clothes/coats" section of the closets to install them.. but hey no complains over here! My babies have a proper home!

What a fabulous way to display shoes! If only I had a much larger bank account and a fantastic apartment to house such a treasure...
We have the elfa system from the container store and I love it, but this little armoire is precious.
