Boogaloos

If it's a boy:
for the mohawk and tattoo.

If it's a girl:

for the hot pink hair and kicky little skirt.

It's Shiny!

This is the engagement ring The Bachelor has chosen for his chosen one. Thoughts?

Give Us The Gossip, Girl

The fact that the CW is making us wait for new Gossip Girl episodes until March 16th has been cruel. Hope this teaser gets you through this dry spell.

Spoiler- It seems Blair goes bad! Can't wait!!

A Tasteful Poster

My sweet husband bought me this awesome poster to frame and hang in our kitchen. And come September when my pregnancy taste buds get back to normal and coffee doesn't taste like motor oil to me, these words will ring very, very true.

Hmmmm...

Is that psychic for reals or does she just have the first four seasons on DVD? Will you tune in for the final season of The Hills?

Shady Lady

Zooey Deschanel teamed up with Oliver Peoples sunglasses for their 2009 ad campaign and a signature Zooey design. A short little movie featuring her and musician Matt Costa is over at their site. See it here.

Yes, I Am

Hi Everyone! I am indeed expecting a visit from the stork in early September and we couldn't be more thrilled. Thanks sooooo much for all the sweet comments! I have several stories I will post over the next few weeks involving what motivated me to take a pregnancy test, an encounter with a med student that has left me with a complex, random cravings and a few other random anecdotes that come with being an emotional pregnant lady. I promise to not make this a total "mom" blog - but just indulge me once in a while. :)

Oh, Oscar

Last night's Oscar night had very few bright spots. Was I thrilled Slumdog  Millionaire swept the whole damn thing? Yep. Was Hugh Jackman forced and a little too keen to break into song and dance for my taste? True. Was the presence of the High School Musical kids totally unnecessary? Absof*ckinglutely. Was the presentation of the individual performance awards by five past winners pretty cool? Totally. Now, the show and awards themselves are only a secondary and tertiary priority for me. If you are a long time reader of this blog you know, fashion comes first.

Here are my faves:

Marion Cortillard in Haute Couture Dior
If you are going to go all out, go all out. It's a  lot of look, but it looked awesome.

Kate Winslet in Atelier Yves Saint Laurant
There is no classier woman in showbiz. She looked so elegant and her hair reminded me of a futuristic Grace Kelly. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. And her speech? Precious.

Freida Pinto in John Galliano
Ok, no one could have worn this Galliano gown but her. She looked smashing and elegant and fresh. And her sapphire jewelry was just the icing on the cake.

Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab
That is one very unboring black dress. And could her emerald jewels been any more gorgeous? They looked like candy.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte
This lilac  Rodarte dress was just gorgeous. I loved the color in the sea of black, red and champagne colored dresses. She is always my favorite on the red carpet.

The Ok, I'm not sures:

Penelope Cruz in Vintage Balmain
Her 60 year old Balmain gown was pretty, but was it a show-stopper? Was it a little too wedding dress?

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino
Her dress was no doubt pretty, but why does she look so uncomfortable with it? Why does she look like she was running errands and then just slipped the dress on 5 minutes before showing up? I feel like she needs a do' and some jewelry.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive
It is probably my overall distaste for Ms. Hathaway that makes me never really think she got it. What did you think?

The Hi, not only why are you here - but WTF are you wearing:

Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murhad
My mom asked me why Miley Cyrus was even there and more importantly - why does she look like a Christmas tree decorated within and inch of its life. I couldn't have said it better.

Lisa Rinna
Let's take a break from fashion for a minute and address this. Yes Lisa, the hair is too much. The jewels - a little bit over the top. Your Hamburgler eye-make up was not necessary. But given that we can see your lips, breasts and cheeks - we are aware that you never know when to quit.

Beyonce in House of Dereon
If Project Runway and What Not To Wear have taught me nothing, they have at least taught me that a huge pattern can make even the slimmest girl look big. So it has me baffled that HER MOTHER designed this dress for her. I mean - her own mom. Ouch, B.

Jessica Biel in Prada
First of all since when does getting ousted from 7th Heaven and starring in a Blade sequel make you worthy of Oscar attendance? Now, if I was awarding points on how well someone could construct a dress out a gargantuan table cloth - then this might have been a contender. But it wasn't. Now, I have a feeling that if the scale of that sashy thingy was taken down a notch or seven, then it might not be so bad.

Who was your pick for best and worst dressed?

Flower Power

I had a mini melt down this morning. Of course, I called Mom. And Mom being Mom - called the florist. Thanks Mom! The roses are HUGE and smell gorgeous! The power of getting flowers is pretty amazing. All of a sudden my breakdown seems like it was days ago.

Happy Hour

In my early 20's, Thursday night happy hour consisted of margaritas and bad decisions. But at 28, all I want to do tonight is curl up with an Oreo McFlurry (Thanks NBC and 30 Rock!) and my remote and watch last night's episode of Lost - commercial free. Any geekier and I would be Liz Lemon.

Eleven Minutes To Save The World

Project Runway season one winner Jay McCarroll has a documentary style movie coming out about his struggle to be taken seriously by an industry that views him as a reality show entertainer - not a serious designer. Jay is my absolute favorite PR contestant of all time - even more than Christian - and I can't wait for the humor and talent Jay has in store for us in this movie. Oh, and it stars Kelly Cutrone too! Double win!

Does The Economy Scare You?

Lately, the state of the economy has been keeping me up at night. Then I get to work this morning and see this story and video and my fears grow exponentially. How about you?

I'd Like To See That Dessert Menu

If ever I was served a dessert that consisted of a quilted Chanel bag petit four there is no way in hell I could eat it. I would save it and bring it home with me and put it under a little cloche or something. It might the closest I will ever get to owning the real deal.

Kelly Fierce

Kelly Kapoor is my favorite side character on The Office. I can't wait for her Twitter, I Am Kelly Fierce to take off. It is going to be bananas.

Whatever Your V-Day Plans...

May they go better than Liz and Jack's.

What Kind of V-Day Couple Are You?

Do you do it up big? Dressed to the nines and a reservation at a fancy place? Or do you prefer to stay in and cook something and snuggle up? We've done both kinds and they both have their rewards. For our first Valentine's day together when Doug and I were dating I could not think of a single thing to give as a gift. I ended up getting him a wine rack from Pottery Barn and several bottles of different wine to fill it. He took me out to a fancy dinner and I slipped and fell in the restaurant. Mortifying. One year in lieu of a fancy dinner we went and got a couples massage at a nice spa and then went out to lunch. One year we ate our weight in sushi from our favorite place. Last year I was sick on V-day and we gave our dinner reservation to a co-worker and her boyfriend so I owe my husband a night out this year (if we aren't knee deep in cardboard moving boxes, that is). What are you plans?

The Enigma That Is SGM

Today I have a treat for you. The whimsical verbal stylings of the one and only SGM. She wishes to retain some level of anonymity so she sent me this picture so that we might exclaim over her vibrant, bouncy curls and lovely sage green walls and the kick ass ruffly number she is wearing. I believe she chooses not to share her face with all of the world because then Jeff Lewis would be able to identify her in a police line up. But hey, that's just me. Take it away SGM....

Where do you live? Denver

What is your favorite thing to cook? Roast chicken, sweet potato fries, ribs, soup, mmmmmm

What is your favorite beauty product? Cetaphil, baby. It's dry out here. I am also loving lipgloss from The Body Shop.

What is one thing you can't help but splurge on? FOOD. Chocolate, lobster, chocolate lobsters--I love good food.

What is your favorite word? Sugar. I like how it sounds and I like what it stands for.

What movie can you recite by heart? 16 Candles and I am pretty decent at Top Gun.

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? Browse at a bookstore all by myself. Heaven!

What is one trend that totally victimized you? I think I have mostly victimized myself with my own misguided fashion sense, e.g. sweatshirts with pleated highwater jeans and penny loafers throughout highschool. There was also a really bad haircut (again in high school) that caused my husband to ask if I had had a sex change operation. Pretty!

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would you chose? I really like my own life. Plus, I think there would be too many risks to trade with someone else. Like, what if I said Natalie Portman, and then it turns out she's secretly a heroin addict. I'd have to use heroin to avoid going into withdrawal and I don't know how to do heroin! What if I accidentally overdosed and killed her (me)?

However, if I forced myself to answer this question, I'd pick Rachel Zoe, and the first order of business would be gaining a good 25 pounds. Then I would get some therapy, buy a new wardrobe for my new bod, fire that bitchy Taylor and go on a vacation with Kathy Griffin and Jeff Lewis. Then I would divorce Rodger and try to marry my own husband Frank, who would ultimately not be attracted to me because I'm Rachel Zoe. All in one day! Whew--that's too much work.

What is your favorite comfort food? Gotta copy Bee on this one--french fries and ice cream. Looooove the salty-sweet combo.

What famous person do you think you most resemble? Two weeks ago at Subway I was told I looked exactly like Julie White from Grace under Fire (hello, who remembers that kind of information? I had to come home and google that shit). More often I am told that I look like Annette Bening. In my days of sweatshirts and pleated jeans, it was Joanie from Happy Days and Tyne Daly (I know. I am still super-pissed about it).

What was the best piece of advice you were ever given? Who gave it to you? Go with your gut. I think I got this advice from...Oprah?

What three possessions do you value most? My iMac (I am a recent convert and oh LORD, do I love that computer), my tv and my house (does that count?).

What three non-material things do you value most? My husband's sense of humor, the sweetness of my kids, and my friendships.

When was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who was it? My computer, about 15 seconds ago. And also, my four year old, about 10 minutes ago.

Abbey - The Cover Girl Doppelganger

Everyone, meet Abbey (as if you ALL don't already know her). She writes awesome blog Abbey Goes Design Scouting and recently started Design Tots - an super cool blog with cool kiddie stuff. The little one she is expecting soon will surely have cool design digs with Abbey designing the nursery. Check out Abbey's blog and her Flickr site where she records the bouquets of flowers she creates weekly from her "Year Of Flowers" gift from her sweet husband. They are gorgeous!

Where do you live? The Big Apple.

What is your favorite thing to cook? Chocolate tarts, enchiladas, chicken noodle soup.

What is your favorite beauty product? Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

What is one thing you can’t help but splurge on? Hermes (Not that I have very often but a girl can dream!)

What is your favorite word? Zone.

What movie can you recite by heart? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? Eat cranberry scones with my husband.

What is one trend that totally victimized you? All trends victimize me!

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would you chose? Tina Fey.

What is your favorite comfort food? Cheese! Cheese! Cheese!

What famous person do you think you most resemble? According to the “My Heritage” celebrity look-alike website, Christie Brinkley, which shocked me!

What was the best piece of advice you were ever given? Who gave it to you? To never put anything in email I wouldn’t say to someone’s face. – My first boss.

What three possessions do you value most? My blue velvet couch, my orange tree, my Hermes cape cod watch (I bought it with the proceeds of my Etsy business!).

What three non-material things do you value most? My health, my husband, my friends.

When was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who was it? My sister, over g-chat, 2 minutes ago.

Thanks Abbey!

Face Time With A Petunia Faced Girl

Ok, so if you haven't heard of Susannah from Petunia Faced Girl then you must be living under a rock. She is a blog legend. My friends who don't even read my blog read hers. That's the kind of rock star power she has in blogland. She is funny, blunt and honest to a fault and can spin words and stories into works of art. She has a mini-me daughter and childhood sweetheart husband who all engage in some humorous antics that to me, make her family reality show worthy. Read below, go to her blog and see what I mean.

Where do you live? Marin County, California. Some may think I'm a loser for living where I grew up, but god it's beautiful here.

What is your favorite thing to cook? I don't cook, or at least I don't like to. It makes me feel too needy. Too salty? Not enough salt? Too dry? Too this, too that? I make a mean bowl of cereal, the milk to flake ratio just perfect, thankyouverymuch.

What is your favorite beauty product? I'd have to go with chapstick with a hint of color, then papier poudres, then mascara if given an extra two minutes. I know you only asked for ONE, but still. I also like me some cover up, but not foundation, never foundation. In high school there was this girl who constantly wore white turtlenecks and an unfortunate beige foundation. Of course the beige foundation was always caked onto the tips of her turtleneck, and it scarred me, the fact that her signature look seemed to be based on base. Later I heard that she won a wet t-shirt contest at some spring break affair, and I cannot help but picture that wet white t-shirt caked with Maybelline beige #3.

What is one thing you can't help but splurge on? Juice. The more exotic the better. Nantucket, aloe, lemongingerlalala, if I don't recognize the bottle I don't mind paying $4 for 8oz. of mmm.

What is your favorite word? Thistle.

What movie can you recite by heart? Sadly, none. And I can never remember jokes either. I also suck at small talk. Aren't I a hoot?

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? My ideal weekend day would be this: Wake up at 10am. Go to the beach with my family. Fall asleep in the sun. Read some magazines. A great book. Kick around a soccer ball. Grab some dinner on the way home. Cozy up to a great movie.
My actual weekend day is this: Wake up at 6am with my daughter. Watch Dora. Watch another Dora. Make it a third. Go to the beach with my family. Play Dora (I always have to be Boots). Stare longingly at magazines and unopened book. Kick around a soccer ball. Grab some dinner on the way home. Take a bath with my daughter, awestruck by the volume of sand stuck in her cracks. Cozy up to a bad movie that is not Dora but might as well be. Honestly, either way I'm good.

What is one trend that totally victimized you? Chokers, palazzo pants, dark lipstick, clogs, leotards. Good god: LEOTARDS! The very word. And unitard isn't much better. It was 1993. That is all.

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would you chose? My daughter.

What is your favorite comfort food? Grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate milk.

What famous person do you think you most resemble? Ashley Judd back when she had babyfat (or any of the big-cheeked actresses, of which there are few).

What was the best piece of advice you were ever given? Who gave it to you? People don't give me advice, or maybe I just don't listen.

What three possessions do you value most? My computer for the internet (hello!), my books, my camera.

What three non-material things do you value most? My family, My friends, Humor

When was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who was it? About an hour ago. I told my daughter I loved her. 15 minutes before that I said it to my husband. I'd rather err on the side of cloying rather than cold. I love you, too. Goodbye.

The Lil Bee Buzz

Melisa over at The Lil Bee is one of my favorite bloggers. Her posts are hilarious, stylish and always different. You never get bored. Sometimes I think she is my long lost sister as we both have an affinity for rap music, pretty dresses and college football. Oh, and she loooooves her husband, Paul. Aren't they cute? Here's the buzz on Bee.

Where do you live? New York, the ‘burbs.

What is your favorite thing to cook? Not really a cook, but I like making big salads!

What is your favorite beauty product? I try to always buy products that were not tested on animals. Alba makes a great exfoliator called Sea Algae Enzyme Facial Scrub.

What is one thing you can’t help but splurge on? Cute dresses.

What is your favorite word? Doodie.

What movie can you recite by heart? Swingers.

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? Go for walks with Paulie and the dogs.

What is one trend that totally victimized you? In tenth grade I succumbed to an asymmetrical haircut, meaning it was longer on the left side than the right. Tragic.

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would you chose? I think Paul, my husband. Or Beyonce.

What is your favorite comfort food? French fries and ice cream.

What famous person do you think you most resemble? Jack Black.

What was the best piece of advice you were ever given? Who gave it to you? My grandmother said, “Always remember the good times we had.”

What three possessions do you value most? My grandpa’s rosary beads, my grandma’s dinner ring, and my collection of cards from Paul.

What three non-material things do you value most? My mom, Paul, and my two dogs, Reggie and Paco. I need four, sorry.

When was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who was it? Paul, this afternoon.

Thanks Bee!!!

Blue Bird

I'm starting to think I have a ring fetish. Rings are my favorite jewelry to look at and shop for. And these birthstone bird rings from Julius Cohen are no exception. Love, love, love them. Of course being a March birthday, my bird would be blue - aquamarine to be exact.

Top Of The Morning

Love this top. Perfect for the hot, hot summer I am anticipating.

{found on A Merry Mishap}

Barack Is Whitney. Whitney Is Barack.

Ever wonder what the presidency would be like if it was sponsored by MTV and had it's own reality show? Wonder no more. This is hilarious.

She's Crafty

When I was a kid my mom helped me make my Valentine's for school. They were awesome. No one else's compared (right, Mom?). These day's I'm not as crafty and opt more for something fancy from the card selection at Sloan Hall for my lovees. But if you are short on $$ and heavy on creativity then scoot on over to Martha where the homemade card ideas are pure gold. T-11 days, people.
