A Virtual Trip
Let's head to Paris for the afternoon, oui? Let's talk with the director of Lacroix, socialite and stylist Vanessa Traina and other pretty Parisian girls about style and fashion. All aboard.
Pregnancy Confession

Giving birth is my greatest fear. One of my pregnancy books makes a c-section sound like a relaxing, yet slightly invasive spa treatment. Literally it says "If you want to lay back and relax and not have to do any work in the birth of your baby, a cesarean section might be the option for you."
I accidentally watched a c-section on the internet the other day. Holy sh*t. Some people should really label their videos better.

A Tiny Snippet
Tonight's GG ep appears to be epic with Jenny's sweet sixteen getting out of hand and all - but it looks like Blair and Chuck get a little screen time too.*

Target Gets Tracy

Tracy Feith for Target pops into stores on May 17th. I think these two dresses are adorbs and that I need them, even though the one on the right is a little Marcia Brady (but in a good way).
ps- that model is totally Allie from The City!!!

Have An Amazing Weekend!
“Our children will not have bigger houses, or faster cars, but they will live richer lives.” - Stephen Klineberg, sociologist, Rice University

This weekend Doug and I are going on the Rice Design Alliance Home Tour - with the theme being awesome houses under 2,000 sq. ft. Bucking the trend of sprawling, suburban McMansions with Hummers parked in the driveway, these smaller homes show that quality doesn't necessarily mean quantity. One of the homes on the tour is by Brett Zamore, an architect we originally contacted about architectural plans for our remodel - but he is just so damn awesome we couldn't afford him. The house above is his house in The Heights.
Hope you all have a great weekend! Doing anything interesting? If you are in H-Town check out the home tour!

Eco Babe
Last night at bunco, my sweet, eco savvy friend, Aimee, had an adorable baby gift for me. Aimee and her husband, Ross, honeymooned in the Maldives a few years ago and had an eco awakening while there. Ever since, Aimee has tirelessly and humorously spread her enviro-knowledge throughout the group. Now, even in utero - she is spreading her knowledge to the next generation. Baby Hebert will always think of Aimee when he/she wears these organic onesies to the farmer's market and recycling center. Thanks, Aims!!!!

OMG
After hearing this song in a Gossip Girl promo a while back, I searched for it, downloaded it and listen to it all the time now. Thought you might like to do the same.

A Big Cookie

My biggest craving of late is cookies - but not just any cookie. Big. Soft. Cookies. You know, like the kind from a mall cookie stand? The big soft M&M cookie from here really saved the day this past Friday. And I've been dreaming of one every day since.

Happy Weekend!
Forbidden Fish

Friday nights always make me think of going out for sushi. I have literally craved sushi swimming in a sea of spicy ponzu sauce since the moment I found out I was pregnant. I told Doug the second after I give birth I want some take out from my favorite sushi place (conveniently located near the medical center) called in. He has obliged.

Midnight Surprise Sale

Rumor has it that Rebecca Minkoff is having a surprise midnight super sale tonight! Can you stay up that late? For 50% off this bad girl, I just might!!
Lovely Lady Lumps

I first saw this over on Joanna's blog, and now it is everywhere ...including here. I just love this idea! A photographer has taken pictures of his pregnant wife and written little notes to the baby for every week of her pregnancy. As a pregnant lady myself, I love this idea! Did I say that already? She even wore some American Apparel clothes in her photos and when the company saw the series, they sent her boxes of duds to keep the style going! How awesome is that? Now, I'm not one for belly shots of myself and you most likely won't be seeing any here - but to give you a point of reference, I will be 17 weeks next week.
ps- did you know American Apparel almost went bankrupt? don't let this US company go down! stock up on their amazing deep v t's today!!! they don't look that slutty in person.

I Knew She Was Crazy
Let's Get High (Heels)

If ever there was a perfectly affordable poor man's YSL tribute platform knock off - this would be it. Ooh - that sky high heel is gorgeous!

Ooh - This Looks Good!
A super cute looking little indie movie. Oh - and a bearded John Krasinski is in it. Even scruffy - still cute.
Happy St. Patty's Day

When I was 18 I got a tattoo with two girlfriends from high school. I chose a four leaf clover in honor of the Irish roots that gave me pasty white skin that won't tan and a penchant for bagpipe music. It wasn't the best decision I ever made - but at least I always have my green on when St. Patty's Day rolls around. Have a good one and drink a green beer for me!

40 Days and 40 Nights

Soda. Chocolate. Desserts in general. Those are things that people normally give up during Lent. It is being reported that some people have opted to give up texting for the 40 days and 40 nights of the Lenten season. Could you do that?

Have A Great Weekend!
Beep, Beep

How cute is this Jeep? The Jubilee Jeep is a special edition Jeep Wrangler designed with pink, green and yellow hibiscus flowers to commemorate Lily Pulitzer's 50th Anniversary. They are mainly used for promotion but a few die hard LP fans have ordered one for their very own. They go for about $25K. I want one. It would go perfectly with my imaginary Malibu beach house.
The Med Student I Will Never Forget

About 4 days after I discovered I was pregnant, I came down with the worst case of bronchitis that anyone has ever suffered from. Anyone. Ever. It was bad. Being newly pregs and feeling holier than thou, I was convinced I could beat it without taking anything. Riiiiiight. So I ended up in the doctor's office nearing my deathbed only to be met with the smarmiest med student on Earth.
"Hi, I'm Dr. So-And-So and I am helping Dr. So-And-So today. What seems to be the problem?"
I go on to tell him that I am coughing like a 90 year old man who smoked 10 packs of Reds a day for 85 of those years. But I am pregnant and didn't want to take anything if I didn't have to.
"Oh, you're pregnant. How do you feel about that?"
Um, was he actually saying these words? I told him I was thrilled, surprised but thrilled.
He goes on to make a serious of weird faces, takes my vitals and asks me again if I really am excited about being pregnant to which I start to get testy and say yes. Again.
Then homeboy opens up my chart and says:
"Oh, you're 28."
"Yeah, I am."
"I thought you were 17!!!! Sorry about those questions."
And then he was gone. Leaving me to revel in the fact that during my pregnancy I will not only get big and fat - but also encounter people thinking I am the resident Juno of Houston. Awesome.
And the kicker is, I most likely have about five years on that kid.

I Defy You Not To Smile
This clip always makes me smile. It is one of my favorite scenes in any movie...ever. Johnny Depp is so precious.
So Check It....

The lovely Pamela Jaye over at Somewhere in Middle America interviewed me for her "How We Blog" series and my post is up today. Check it out!
ps- Love this pic of Jenny Lewis I found over on another cool blog, The Steel Closet. I would pay bank for her Dylan shirt.

You all have probably already seen this trailer on Lovely Little Things and Design Crush, but I couldn't resist posting it too. I think this movie looks precious and I can't wait to see it!

Maternity Clothes Are Stupid

One of my best friends is in Philadelphia and is also pregnant. Through our conversations we have come up with the universal truth that the majority of maternity clothes are stupid. Especially the tops. 9 out of 10 maternity tops are whack. It's a fact. Considering I will be spending the hot, sweltering Summer months in my third trimester I am shunning the jeans and the hideous pants for light dresses. I have a couple of really cute ones that my mom bought for me, I think I might also take some of my birthday fundage and splurge on a Rachel Pally dress. I have wanted one for ages and I think this style could be nice now and post baby. Plus, it looks so comfy and I love love love the color!!!
Let Them Eat Cake
I saw Marie at the Houston Ballet this weekend. The ballet, an original by Houston ballet artistic director Stanton Welch, is inspired by the glam, short-lived life of Marie Antoinette. The costumes and scenery were so gorgeous in the ballet that I want to rent the Sofia Coppola version again.
ps- blog friends Paloma and Kylie saw the ballet too! for Kylie's unbelievable take - go here!

The Apatow Comedy Crew for Vanity Fair - the recreation of the Tom Ford, Scarlett Johansson, Kiera Knightly cover was brilliant!

What Motivated Me To Take A Test?
This:

People, I give you Varsity Blues. It was December 30th, 2008 - about 11:30 AM. Varsity Blues was on TBS or TNT or some other channel that shows random movies over and over and over again. I settled in and watched. And towards the end, when James Van der Beek's character overthrows the big, bad coach and gives his teammates the whole "Let's Be Heroes" speech - I was in tears. Having no legitimate reason for crying (I mean, they go on to win the game, Mox goes to Brown, la ti da) I new something was different. I got up, got dressed and went to the closest drug store and purchased a pregnancy test (and for good measure a pack of gum). A good 7 minutes later it was clear - I was pregnant. Thank goodness. For a second there I thought a movie featuring a whipped cream bikini and Dawson Leary had actually moved me.

Electric Avenue

This is the Avenue B Grocery - a sweet, 100-year-old, Mom & Pop style store in the Hyde Park neighborhood in Austin, Texas. You see that big tree on the left side of the picture? That used to be my yard. My last year in college at UT, two girlfriends* and I rented that house - and lived next door to the Avenue B Grocery. It was awesome. We took full advantage of the sandwich counter in the back, the Good Humor ice cream freezer chock full of everything from Push Ups to Drumsticks and if ever you wanted an ice cold IBC root beer in the bottle or a pack of peanut M&M's - you need only walk next door. The guy who owns it, Ross, lived in the back and would periodically stop by to bring us leftovers. That was a crazy year - and minus the cats that used to nightly fight to the death outside my bedroom window - I miss so much about it. Austin is the best. If you ever get the chance to live there - never leave. Ever.
* Hi Steph and Emma! How much do you guys miss that place?!
A Timely Little Birthday Gift

I received some very nice birthday gifts yesterday - but this little surprise was very timely. Lord knows my to-do list reads like an Encyclopedia. It's the perfect gift for anyone you know expecting their own little bundle of joy. Find it here.

Only 365 More Days In My 20's

I'm 29 today*. I remember when 29 seemed soo old**. And here I am - and I got here in a flash. This year stands to be a big one - new house, new baby, new adventures....I couldn't be more excited. Now if someone would be so kind as to make me this ruffly pink cake. The pregnant birthday girl needs a slice. Stat.
* Which also just so happens to be a big fancy holiday for the mathematical set.
** I was the age I look at now and think "These girls are so young. They need to put more clothes on."

Pinky Toes

I'm headed to the nail salon after work for a little pre-birthday mani/pedi. I'm loving this lilac/pink color by Rescue Beauty Lounge. Although, I might go with my old faithful.
It's Curtains For You

My house has an original 1920's clawfoot tub left in the downstairs bathroom. The shower rod is one of those circular thingamajobs that requires two shower curtains to go all the way around. I have always loved this shower curtain from Anthropologie but at $118 the only thing more ludicrous than buying one would be buying two. Luckily Target has a nicely priced alternative. My tub might get some ruffled love after all!
Skin Savers
These two products saved my life this winter. My skin is temperamental and sensitive to say the least so I was so happy to find relief from the elements in these! They deep clean and leave you with glowing, dewy skin. Like a teenager!
