Tribute
There are tributes to Michael Jackson everywhere you turn these days - but the one tribute I am waiting for is - MJ: The Ballet. Oh, c'mon. You know you saw this movie and LOVED it.

I Want To Go To There
This is the pool area at Hotel ZaZa here in Houston. I have only been there one time for a Chloe Dao fashion show that ended with about 1,000 beach balls raining from the rooftop. It was amazing. I would give anything today for a hall pass to scoot down the street to this urban oasis and soak myself silly in that gorgeous pool.

Sweetheart '66

In 1966 Farrah Fawcett took the campus of The University of Texas by storm with her beauty and vivacious personality and was named a UT Sweetheart. Of all her accomplishments, I'll choose to remember her as a lively Texas girl with a wild head of hair and a smile brighter than the sun.

Happy Ears, Angry Toes

Tonight my husband is taking my 7 month pregnant self to see Jenny Lewis at Warehouse Live - a standing room only venue. It is going to be a long night on these aching tootsies but soooo worth it.

Pretty As A Picture
Falling in love with the pretty pretty (and super girly) pictures from Yvette Inufio. Most everything in her shop is on sale through June 30th.

Vitamin C
Behold - Orange Rolls.

At brunch the other morning we ordered a small pastry basket and one of the tiny little treats inside was an orange roll - and immediately I was 5 again. My mom used to get the most amazing orange rolls at a fabulous little bakery and they were one of my favorite Sunday morning breakfast surprises. In case you've never experienced the wonderment of the orange roll - here is a mighty fine looking recipe for them. And if you are in Houston - trot on down to Moeller's Bakery in Bellaire to test drive the orange rolls of my youth. They are heavenly.

Minty Money

I'm not going to lie, I can sometimes be a total kamikaze with money. I joke all the time that my paycheck should be direct deposited in the corporate pockets of Target, iTunes and lately - baby stores. If you are like me and sometimes find yourself muttering "Where did my money go?" then maybe Mint is what you need. Link it to your bank and you have clear cut charts created for you telling you exactly where your money goes. It's pretty genius and totally simple to use. I'm addicted.

Giveaway - The Dr. Is In
Ladies, have I got a giveaway for you! I was offered the incredible opportunity to give one of my awesome readers the chance to bring home a bottle of Advanced Face Firming Activator by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, whose skin care products are legendary . This product is one of his best sellers and promotes a healthy and radiant complexion and reduces wrinkles and lines at the same time!

You might have heard of Dr. P on a little show called Oprah.
This product is a $120 value and sounds totally dreamy! Here are the rules:
1. Leave a comment telling me why you want this product or tell me about a similar product that you bought that disappointed you. One comment per person please!
2. You must leave a name - no anonymous comments will be taken into consideration for the winner. Sorry!
3. You must have a USA shipping address to qualify.
I will select a winner at random and will post the winner on Friday, June 26th. At that time I will get in touch with you to get your email and mailing address and get your prize to you safe and sound.
Good luck everyone!

Nothing Special - Just Fabulous

Is it crazy that I aspire to dress with the casual, effortless elegance of a *gasp* high school student?
A Swoon Worthy Party
Check out the amazingly bad ass birthday party my friend Samantha threw for her friend, Kim. Sam is an unbelievably talented graphic designer (and by looks of it a party planner, too!) so she leaves no detail out when it comes to making everything coordinate just perfectly. The tablescape is pure heaven but my favorite details have to be the bubble bottle invitations and the cupcake bar complete with complimentary colored icing and sprinkles.

Back Side

I've shared with you the gorgeous orange (and no doubt vintage) gown Ashley Olsen wore to the CFDA Awards - but I am loving this shot of her from the back. Not only is her new haircut super cute - I love the pearl pendant necklace she wore backwards. I love a little unexpected detail like that.

The Baby's Latest Obsession
Behold - The magic of the Tootsie Pop. And when you are pregnant, let me tell ya, it doesn't take anywhere close to three licks for that sucker to disappear.
Table For Two

I love booths. I would always rather sit in a secluded booth over a table in the center of a crowded restaurant. I love this private little booth for two and the neon sign beckoning for patrons.
Gold Stars

Loving these three different yet beautiful looks that Diana, Blake* and Ashley pulled out on the red carpet at last night's CFDA Awards.
*I need to take a hint from Blake and invest in some nude peep toes. They make her legs look like they go on for days!

Snow In June

Yesterday I got in my car and the temperature read 115º. That's hot. Good thing I found something to cool down with not too far from home. MAM's House of Ice is a little cottage on wheels that serves up soft shaved ice snoballs - not the hard, crunchy kind. This is what I have been waiting for here in Houston ever since I moved back from Austin, leaving my beloved Sno Beach behind. Is there anything more indicative that Summer is in full effect (besides that 115º scorcher) than a snoball?
Image borrowed from here to illustrate the deliciousness.

Movie Madness
This weekend we beat the heat at the movie theatre. We caught The Hangover first - and let me just say - if you skip this movie you will miss out on some serious laughs. It was hysterical and I hope there is a sequel.

We also saw Away We Go and it didn't disappoint either. It was such a great movie. Funny, emotional and downright sweet. And Maya and John have such great chemistry! And being pregnant myself, there was so much to identify with!

Expectations Vs. Reality

Who hasn't shown up to a party, wedding or event where the reality that ensues no where near meets the expectations you had for the evening?
This adorable and endearing clip from the much anticipated movie, 500 Days of Summer, shows both sides - and makes me more excited to see this movie than ever. It starts hitting theaters next week - but since it is an indie it might take a while to reach a screen near you.

Add the Fireworks Necklace to a super simple tank and skirt and – BOOM - you have your Fourth of July look nailed.
How To
Lyrical Laughter
A few weeks ago, my mom and I were up late - delirious from heat and waiting on the AC repair man and she came across a quiz in June's issue of Real Simple. The quiz was about commonly butchered song lyrics. We both know a ton of songs by heart - but as illustrated in the video above - we can all do a hatchet job on a classic. We decided to take the quiz - she gave me one wrong lyric at a time and I had to guess the right lyric and song. You want to play along too? Get ready to giggle.
1. "It doesn't matter if we're naked or not."
2. "I'll never leave your pizza burnin'."
3. "It tastes very nice, food of the parking lot."
4. "But it's better than drinking cologne."
5. "I want a piece of bacon."
Leave your guesses in the comments! I'll post the correct answers later! And try not to look at other comments and cheat!
THE ANSWERS: You guys are good!
1. It doesn't matter if we make it or not - Livin' on a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
2. I'll never be your beast of burden - Beast of Burden (Rolling Stones)
3. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot - Big Yellow Taxi (Joni Mitchell)
4. But it's better than drinking alone - Piano Man (Billy Joel)
5. I wanna be sedated - I Want To Be Sedated (The Ramones)

Hot Flash
It isn't even as hot as it is going to get here in Houston and already the pregnancy hot flashes have set in. Would love a Chanel ice cream cone* to cool me down and make me feel all fabulous. * In reality I will probably just go get a Frosty from Wendy's - which rates low on the fabulosity scale but is delicious just the same.

My Dolls
Loving these dolls by Simpli Jessi. Each one comes with a name, career and character.

Andy is a park ranger in Oregon. He protects wildlife and nature on a daily basis. Andy drives a yellow jeep that has no doors, and plays the bongo drum in a band called "Bare Feet". Andy loves Popsicles and thunderstorms.

Cleo makes paint brushes for artists. When she was little, Cleo used to watch her father in his workshop - he was a book binder. Cleo's mom liked to experiment with recipes, her favorite food was cabbage. Cleo also has a little pet bird named Frost.

Amos is a poet. A writer of mystical exploration. He currently lives in a little apartment above a bakery where he spends his nights covered in ink. Amos' favorite ice cream is chocolate.

Clair makes films. Last year she traveled to New Zealand to film a documentary. Clair eats a lot of pickles and sometimes chews with her mouth open - but only when she's alone. Clair has a dog named Yoshi who rides a skateboard!

Delectable

I am at that stage in my pregnancy where if anyone mentions food - I immediately want whatever they just mentioned. Jordan's post on these delectable donuts might send me straight to the nearest shop for a sugary snack.

Holy Mackrel!!

Sushi dinner? Fish fry? Any old Thursday night? You'd have to have a great sense of humor and style - as well as the right venue - to pull off these awesomely funny Holy Mackrel earrings.

The Big D
I'm headed to Dallas today for a long weekend with family and friends. A little fun, a little food - maybe a little shopping. If I have time, I might try to find out who shot J.R. I'll keep you posted.
Have a lovely one everybody!
