An Apple A Day...
ps- my computer screen frame at work is littered with Cutie stickers!
All About Espadrilles
My summer shoe staple is the flip flop. Havaianas, J Crew, Tory Burch. But I want something different this year. Lately, I'm all about espadrilles. Those metallic ones are calling my name. Tory Burch makes a mean espadrille.

Chambrorts
Chambray + Shorts = Chambrorts
So, I bought these at Anthropologie yesterday. I don't know why I picked them up. I haven't worn shorts in years. They make me feel like a camp counselor. Maybe I was excited because it was pretty and sunny outside and I pictured myself wearing them while pushing P in the swing at the park in 105ยบ summer weather. Maybe I was thinking about the possible summer getaway with friends we are trying to plan. Or maybe I just want to be twinsies with P. I don't know. This new denim trend kind of scares me. I mean - denim on denim (aka The Texas Tuxedo) was on runways! So tell me, what do you think of chambrorts?

And The Winner Is.....
I Love Me Some Sue Sylvester
Obviously, the over acted political incorrectness of every word that comes out of her mouth paired with her delivery is what makes it funny. Can't wait for season two of Glee!
ps- Get your comments in NOW for the awesome ecosystem giveaway!
The sweet folks over there sent me one and it arrived last night and let me tell you - GORGEOUS!!!!
I will pick the winner at the end of the day!

The Hills Are Dunzo
Heidi tries to look sad.
When The Hills first started I was its biggest fan. I even recapped it here on the blog every week. I could have watched Lauren and Whitney sit in the Teen Vogue closet and talk endlessly about the tragic character flaws of Jason, listen to Heidi take fake meetings and work on fake projects for Bolthouse back when she looked like this and Audrina - well - still waiting for her character arc. Since, Lauren has moved on, Whitney has traded The Hills for The City, Heidi has become a married fembot and Audrina is still waiting for a better offer. I'm not a fan of the latest season of the show. Without Lauren it just doesn't seem right. Much like when Brenda left 90210 - it was never the same. I, however, will tune in (as much as I can stand it) to see this series come to an end. What about you? Feel like tuning in to see how they wrap all this up? All I know is if it ends with the screen going black while a Journey song is playing, MTV is going to get one long letter from me.
Pretty In Pinks
Despite having a blog that makes you think Pepto Bismal is oozing from your computer screen, I'm not a huge pink person. I think the one pink thing I own is sitting in a shopping bag awaiting the donation bin at the Salvation Army. But this pretty pink outfit accented with some green and sparkles could be the turning point!

Two Things
1. Is this a weird photo angle or is Angelina Jolie's arm as wide as a toothbrush? (Dig her sexy bed head btw.)
2. How cute is Knox? Uh, love that little mouth.

Still Loving Braids
Anyone know how to do this on yourself?
That is my braid downfall - I can't french braid much less do it to my own hair.
Anyone know any good tutorials?
Ooops!
We caught this on the way back to the office after lunch. Too good to pass up. Better than the jewelry store sign that I saw a few years ago that read: Diamond Penis Bracelets 50% off.*
*Of course is was supposed to say Tennis.
** Excuse the shoddy Blackberry photo.
Hasbeens
Ugh, I want.
Clogs are all the rage on the runways. I can't get into them. They remind me of when clogs were "in" back in the early 90's and I wore them with slouchy sweaters, broomstick skirts and chokers. Basically I looked like an 11 year-old extra on Melrose Place. But these, these I can get into. I really, really want a pair of orange Hasbeens for Spring. I saw a pair in a store on SoCo while I was in Austin and thought it was destiny. They were a size too big and, as I knew they would, my toes didn't stick out the front when I tried them on. Damn these size 5.5 feet.
ps- Sorry no posts for the last two days. P was on Spring Break and I spent the days playing with him! See his latest milestone here!

Kiehl's Partners With Buster's Friends
Kiehl's is a fantastic brand steeped in tradition and community service. It doesn't hurt that they make a killer lip balm, too. Whenever I pop in to pick up some face wash or my new go-to eye de-puffer stick, I always leave the store feeling like I just bought a great product from a great company. It also doesn't hurt that I adore their packaging and love seeing it all over my bathroom.
On March 20th, the Kiehl's Houston Highland Village store is kicking off a pet adoption fundraising event for Buster's Friends, an organization dedicated to helping homeless and abandoned animals find homes. Adorable fluffies looking for a loving home include:

and Frisky.
Kiehl's is making a large donation to Buster's Friends and inviting several of the animals to their store in hopes of making an adoption match. Each customer that adopts a furry friend will leave with a lovely Kiehl's gift box. A customer that makes a donation of $10 or more will get to choose a complimentary Creme de Corps body moisturizer or a Spray-N-Play Cleansing Spritz for their little buddy. The event starts at noon this Saturday. I'm going to bring P up to meet the animals and make a donation. I hope you do to!

Liberty Lost
I was at Target yesterday morning before the doors opened. I had a dream Saturday night that the Liberty of London launch yesterday would be pandaemonium - cracked out people throwing bows like they were at a Louboutin sample sale. But no. Just me and The Peanut. Alone. Outside Target. At 7:50 AM. Like geeks.
Have you ever been the only shopper in Target before? It's kind of awesome and tranquil. I made a bee line for the LOL line and was immediately saddened. Polyester. And lots of it. The beauty of Liberty of London is two-fold – it is in the exquisitely delicate prints and the super soft cotton fabric. While, I knew the Target collab would most likely sacrifice the luxurious cotton, I had no idea it would abandon cotton all together. It's so sad. Alas, I left the store with a bathing suit cover up (one of the only cotton pieces in the bunch) and a scarf and left all the dresses untouched. The home accessories were cute but I really don't need a $15 floral cardboard catch-all so I passed.
Looking forward to the Cynthia Vincent shoe collection next month!
PS- did you go to Target and check out the collection? What did you think?

Animalistic
We are taking P to the zoo for the first time this weekend!
I can't wait to see his reaction to the animals - especially the sea lions!
And I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited about riding the carousel.
And the train.
Basically I will turn into a 6 year old version of myself tomorrow.
But what better way to spend a Saturday?
Have a great weekend everyone!

I Don't Know What I Love More...
That Kellan Lutz has a dog named Kevin* or that Kevin refuses to let the aerodynamic disadvantage of his neck cone keep him from racing his owner.
* Does it not just kill you when pets have human names - like Judy or Dave?

The Best Alternative
I love t shirts. The quest for the perfect white t has been a constant since I was about 19. I love the uneven hem on this option by Alternative Apparel. I have a few of their burnout t's and P has a few from the baby line. They are so soft and roomy and yummy you almost hate to wear anything else. Almost.
Scarfy
It appears that scarves are the accessory du jour and I am the last one to get the memo. Cute ones are everywhere! Now I want one. I love these tribal scarves with metal mesh trim - and the price is cute too! Perfect with a white T, jeans and wedges.

They're Watching You
I love me some Hall & Oates. So does The Bird and The Bee. I can't wait for their new album, a tribute to the most fabulous duo of the 80's. Listen to their cover of Private Eyes and Maneater.
Hotel San Jose Birthday
Me + 8 girlfriends + 2 suites at Hotel San Jose + 1 long weekend = The Perfect Birthday Celebration.
As a gift for my 30th, Doug gave me a girl's trip to Austin at the city's most fabulous and funky boutique hotel. There were margaritas, Tex-Mex, sangria, Eggs Zapatino, pitchers of Dos Equis, Magnolia Mud, cupcakes, champagne, pinot - both grigio and noir, vodka tonics, Max & Cheese, fried oysters and Mighty Cones, Jo's coffee, more cake and Mexican Martinis. There was laughing, shopping, dancing, lots of eating, story telling, pictures of babies passed around, a visit to our old stomping grounds and lots of smiles and hugs. It was the best weekend ever. With the best friends ever (Nat you were missed!). The only way it can be topped is if we do it again next year.
Entering the hippest place to lay your head.
The subtle sign on SoCo.
The lobby feels like home - only you're house isn't this cool. Patsy Cline was playing while I check in.
The hotel bar serves as a coffee bar during the early hours of the day.
Mmmm. Jo's coffee is the best.
Off to the room!
Our digs.
Our room with a view.
The bed was cozy and comfy and the red stained glass let in pretty light.
The window seat - with gorgeous pillows designed specifically for the hotel - you can buy the fabric in the lobby. Anthropologie eat your heart out!
A four top with a little gift.
Those glasses were so heavy and thick - I loved them.
The happy bright green sliding door....
conceals the lovely and minimalist all white powder room.
Hotel goodies.
The little touches.
The hotel 411.
Awesome poster wall art goodness.
Black and white photography of musicians in every room. 99% sure this is Johnny Cash.
Clippings from old books are fasted to the wall with bright colored push pins. Ya know, something to read in the bathroom. :)
A lucite box mini bar is oh so tempting.
Especially when a happy pair of Havaianas are for purchase!
Our community patio right outside the room.
Our private patio up top looking over the hotel courtyard.
The view from the room.
Cute cushions, ash trays and pool towels for the taking.
The pool just off the courtyard.
Perfect place to spend a hot day. Too bad it was cold!
Brent at the hotel bar told us he put a lot of love into the Sangria. After that how could we not order a glass? It was delicious and the perfect compliment to the patio.
Breakfast - with a side of queso.
Oh yes we did. Back to the Zeta house.
Finding our pledge composite upstairs. Felt old.
Shopping on Congress.
More shopping.
And some more.
Still shopping.
The cutest vintage candy store!
Checking out the open air market. Lots of cute things!
Food!
That would be a fried chicken, fried avocado cone. Yes, fried avocado is as amazing as it sounds.
We recaffeinated at Jo's before going out.
Noticed this cute thing in the window. Sounds very cool.
Thank you Laura, Kristy, Sarah A., Sarah W., Megan, Stephanie, Emily and Marisa for celebrating with me. In your company, I always feel 21. So as we get older, let's do this more often.
XOXO
ps- special props to Doug - the best gift giver, husband and father a girl could ask for.
